James Stevenson was a Lt. in the Irish Army during this rebellion. The "Battle" reportedly lasted about twenty minutes. Lt. Stevenson, sought by the British forces, fled for his life with a price on his head. Irish sympathizers sheltered him until he finally escaped to North America with his young family in 1802.
